Better Factory is excited to announce its participation in the renowned Ars Electronica Festival, taking place from September 4-8, 2024, in Linz, Austria. As part of the S+T+ARTS exhibition space, Better Factory will be aligning with this year’s festival theme, “HOPE – who will turn the tide,” and showcasing its groundbreaking work at the intersection of art, technology, and society.
Ars Electronica: A Prestigious Platform for Innovation
Ars Electronica is a globally recognized event that brings together artists, researchers, technologists, and activists to explore the confluence of art, technology, and societal issues. The festival has grown significantly over the years, attracting thousands of participants. The 2022 edition saw 953 artists, 337 cooperating partners, and 425 events spread across 11 locations over five days—a testament to its scale and impact. In 2024, the festival promises to be even larger, offering an unparalleled platform for thought leadership and innovation.
Better Factory’s Presence at Ars Electronica 2024
Better Factory will be prominently featured within the S+T+ARTS exhibition space, located on the first floor of the historic postal distribution center in Linz. This accessible venue, with no entry fee, is expected to draw a diverse and engaged audience. Better Factory’s exhibition area will include two screens with headphones, where visitors can view the final documentary video and the second round of nine Knowledge Transfer Experiment (KTE) videos. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the final printed SME+Artist Collaboration guide, offering insights into how Better Factory is fostering innovative partnerships between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), artists, and technology suppliers.
A highlight of Better Factory’s presence at Ars Electronica will be the presentation of two KTEs, including the “SMART ENVELOPE” project. This project will be represented by artist David Rickard, who will showcase a short film about the product as well as a longer film titled “Fluid Borders.” The latter is an artistic exploration that Rickard is currently creating using the SmartEnvelope, underscoring the unique synergy between art and technology that Better Factory champions.
